Video of captured Russian soldiers in Ukraine talking about their deception

Social media activists circulated video clips broadcast by an American magazine, which said that Russian soldiers had been captured by Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv, the second largest city in the country.

According to the video, the captured Russian soldiers said that they “do not want war and want to return to their homes after they were deceived by their leaders in Moscow,” according to the American magazine “Newsweek.” The circulating clip shows 5 Russian soldiers with their hands tied, as the magazine indicated that the person who recorded it interviewed them and asked them why they invaded his country. The soldiers responded, according to the clip, that they "simply want to go home and are frustrated and did not want to invade Ukraine in the first place."

According to the American magazine, “After asking the person behind the camera about the military unit they belong to, each of the Russian soldiers responded with the numbers of their military unit.” She pointed out that "when the soldiers were asked about the purpose of their coming to Ukraine, they gave mixed responses, while pointing out that they had been lied and deceived by their commanders." The first Russian soldier said: “We came here for training, but we were deceived, and so I am here.” The second soldier replied with the same answer, saying: “Yes, for training, the commanders sent me here.” The third soldier replied: “We were told that we were sent for training at the beginning, but we were put on the front lines.” Newsweek commented, "The soldiers were frustrated and didn't want to go, but they said we would become enemies of the country. We don't want this war. We just want to go home and we want peace." A fourth Russian soldier appeared and said to the questioner: “They told us that everything would be fine. We didn’t know anything. We were deceived and abandoned.”
