Chelsea coach, German Thomas Tuchel, expressed his great admiration for Real Madrid star, Karim Benzema, before the fiery battle that will bring together the "London Blues" and the Spanish giants in the framework of the Champions League.
Chelsea is preparing to host Real today, Wednesday, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the European championships, at Stamford Bridge.
And the Spanish newspaper “ AS ” quoted the German coach as saying: “I would like to sign Karim Benzema, as he was one of the most underappreciated players a few years ago.”
He added, "Everything he did in the last stage is impressive, especially the way he took responsibility with Real Madrid."
Regarding last year's confrontation with the royal team, Tuchel replied: "I did not watch it again and it has nothing to do with our preparation for this match. We beat them last season, but this does not mean anything."
Regarding the possibility of the absence of Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, from attending the match due to his infection with the Corona virus, Tuchel said: “I am sure that he will be able to talk with the team and be responsible for the players, but it is always better to be with the team on the field than for direct effect.
