Some said that Putin intensified the strikes to seize the capital today, after it was besieged economically and before Western military aid reached Ukraine.
On Sunday, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution, at the request of Western countries, calling for an “emergency session” Monday for the United Nations General Assembly to take a position on the Russian attack on Ukraine by its 193 members.
Eleven countries supported the resolution put forward by the United States and Albania, while Russia voted against it, and the United Arab Emirates, China and India abstained.
